Beginning with the pinata, the collection will be a celebratory introduction to themes of birth and longevity, the customs and rituals involved and the objects surrounding it. Accepting KIOSK’s exhibition invitation,Slow and Steady Wins the Race created a one week installation on behalf of this new collection in February 2009 during New York Fashion Week. Surprises such as 500 piece jigsaw puzzles, vintage pocketwatches, flower seeds and other objects signifying birth, age, growth and time, will fill the pinatas. Pieces that make up part of the new ongoing collection for Slow and Steady Wins the Race can housed in a custom pinata by special request for an extra special surprise. A special edition of the popular Nº6 Color Kit, a silver mylar knit top, necklaces inspired by confetti, a party dress inspired by a pinata.
